Tiger Art: Peek-a-Boo (A Story Not For The Faint-Hearted)

The tiger had lived alone in Bowmore for more than two years. The house was a modern granite and glass construction built into a heavily wooded hillside; the huge front windows offering stunning views of the loch below.

The majority of the big cat's time was spent sitting in the grand hallway gazing at the opaque glass of the vestibule door. Sometimes she would pad back and fore from room to room, or lounge outside in her enclosure at the rear of the house. On warmer days she would stretch out on the cool stone floor of the main bathroom; at other times she favored the large circular bed positioned in the middle of the master bedroom. Her nights were mostly spent on the huge sofa in the family room which adjoined the kitchen. However, for most of her day she would sit in the main hall and silently gaze at the vestibule door, waiting.

The main access to the front of the house was by way of an over-sized solid-oak door. This robust creation opened into a spacious vestibule. The inner vestibule door was a modern opaque glass affair, boasting a heavy, highly polished stainless-steel frame. This door then lead into the main hall. Other than the quality of their construction and size, these two access doors suggested nothing out of the ordinary. However, the feature which differentiated these openings from every other door in the house were the two electrical motors which were housed directly beneath them, under the floor. It was these two motors which, via a mechanism of helical gears, rods and cables, controlled the very simple but very precise opening and closing sequence of the doors above.

The tiger hadn't eaten for six days. She sat in the hall, patiently waiting. Then, mid-morning on the seventh day, it happened: the doorbell rang.

The tiger pricked her ears.

Exactly ten seconds after the bell had been activated, the outer door began to open. Shortly afterwards a polite but frail voice enquired: “Hello! Is there anyone home?”

Through the opaque glass of the inner door the tiger observed a silhouette move slowly into the vestibule. The huge cat raised her head slightly and scented the air.

The locking mechanism of the vestibule door then activated and its heavy steel locks were released; ringing like swords being drawn from their scabbards. The door then opened by exactly two centimeters.

The voice was louder now, “Hello, is there anyone there?” A hand pushed the glass and the door began to slowly open, as the outer door clicked shut and its locks latched home.

“Hello!”

An elderly woman dressed in matching tweed jacket, skirt and hat, teamed with a pair of sturdy brown shoes, stood facing the tiger. In her left hand she held a bright blue container. A white label stuck to the side of the container read: 'Save The World's Starving'.

The old woman tilted her head and beamed a smile. “Oh, a puss-cat! How lovely. You know, I'm very, very fond of puss-cats!”

The tigress bounded forward, seized the woman by the throat and carried her long overdue breakfast towards the dining room.

All of Angela's prints are now sent fitted in a FREE Double Mount and, better still, all of our mounts are made from Conservation Grade board.

Alas, this offer only applies to UK Postal Addresses.

Please Note: your delivery must be signed for, so please make sure there is normally someone at home or arrange for an alternate delivery address.

When you order a print from us the first thing we have to do is make it. But, as we do all of our own printing here in our own workshops, that's not a problem, as the person who receives your order is the same person who makes your print: me!

After your print has been produced, it has to dry. Once dry, I have to get the Artist to sign it. So this means a long walk all the way to the other end of the building, where I try to coax her (the artist) all the way back to my end of the building. Oh yes, I know it SOUNDS easy!

Anyway, after all that's done I then pack your print, beautifully, and book a collection with the courier company who will deliver it. Time-wise, this can now be two-to-three days after your initial order was placed (depending on the time of day you placed your order).

After your package has been collected from us the normal delivery service will take between three-to-five working days. So, as you can see, we don't even try to compete on speed of delivery - that's not what we're about. Something else best mentioned here is that your order is still subject to the standard credit clearance checks imposed by our on-line bank

Because each print is made to order, our website doesn't offer a Next Day Delivery service. We can deliver to you more quickly than stated above, but you'll need to call us to arrange this and, I'm sure you won't be surprised to hear, it will cost you more. So if you need a quote for a faster delivery service please call us on: 01464 821 351 and we'll be happy to arrange this.

The majority of our UK Mainland orders are delivered flat packed but, for their added safety, extra large prints will be rolled into a four inch diameter tube. For UK Offshore and International orders, your prints, no matter what size, will probably also be delivered rolled into a tube.  Please Note: for international deliveries we are not responsible for any further taxes, duties or charges to be paid to the receiving country's customs. These charges are the responsibility of you, the customer.

Please find all UK and International postage prices listed below. The correct amount will be added to your order at the checkout.
