Tiger Art: Peek-a-Boo (A story - not for the faint-hearted)

The tiger had lived in Bowmore for several years. Bowmore was a modern, single story building of granite and glass that had been built into a heavily wooded hillside; south facing, its the huge front windows commanded stunning views of the loch below.

A large part of the big cat's time was spent sitting in the grand hallway, gazing at the opaque glass of the over-sized vestibule door. Sometimes she would pad back and fore from room to room, or lounge outside in her secluded enclosure at the rear of the building. On warmer days she would stretch out on the cool stone of the main bathroom floor; at other times favouring the large circular bed in the middle of the master bedroom suite. However, for most of her day she would sit in the main hall and silently gaze at the main entrance, waiting.

Access to the front of the house was by way of a huge, solid oak door. This robust, hand-crafted creation opened into a spacious vestibule. The inner vestibule door was a modern glass affair, boasting a heavy, highly polished stainless-steel frame. This door then lead into the main hall. Other than the quality of their construction and size, these two doors suggested nothing out of the ordinary. However, the feature which differentiated them from every other door in the house were the two electrical motors which were housed directly under the floor below. It was these two motors which, via a mechanism of helical gears, rods and cables, controlled the doors very precise opening and closing sequence.

The tiger hadn't eaten for six days. Then, mid-morning on the seventh day, it happened: the doorbell rang.

The tiger padded silently into the hallway and sat facing the door. She pricked her ears and sampled the air.

Exactly ten seconds after the doorbell had been activated, the motor under the floor which operated the external door hummed into action. The outer door began to open. Shortly afterwards a polite but frail voice enquired: “Hello! Is there anyone home?”

Through the opaque glass of the inner door the tiger observed a silhouette move slowly into the vestibule. The huge cat raised her nose slightly, and sniffed.

The mechanism controlling the vestibule door then activated and its heavy steel locks were released; ringing like swords being drawn from metal scabbards. The door then opened by exactly two centimetres.

“Hello, is there anyone there?” The voice was louder now. A palm pressed against the glass and the door slowly swung open. Simultaneously, the outer door clicked shut; its locks latching home with a dull thud.

An elderly woman dressed in matching tweed jacket, skirt and hat, teamed with a pair of sturdy brown shoes, stood facing the tiger. In her left hand she held a bright blue container. A white label attached to the container read: 'Feed The World'.

The old lady tilted her head and beamed a smile. “Oh, a puss-cat! How lovely. You know, I'm very fond of puss-cats!”

The tigress bounded forward, seized the woman by the throat and carried her towards the dining room.

All of Angela's prints are now sent fitted in a FREE Double Mount and, better still, all of our mounts are made from Conservation Grade boardAlas, this offer only applies to UK Mainland Postal Addresses.

Our UK Mainland orders are delivered flat packed. For a very few UK Offshore addresses and International orders, your prints, no matter what size, will be delivered rolled into a tube.  Please Note: for international deliveries we are not responsible for any further taxes, duties or charges to be paid to the receiving country's customs. These charges are the responsibility of you, the customer.

Please Note: your delivery must be signed for, so please make sure there is normally someone at home or arrange for an alternate delivery address.

When you order a print from us the first thing we have to do is make it. But, as we do all of our own printing here in our own workshops, that's not a problem, as the person who receives your order is the same person who makes your print: me!

After your print has been produced, it has to dry. Once dry, I have to get the Artist to sign it. So this means a long walk all the way to the other end of the building, where I try to coax her (the artist) all the way back to my end of the building. Oh yes, I know it SOUNDS easy!

Anyway, after all that's done I then pack your print, beautifully, and book a collection with the courier company who will deliver it. Time-wise, this can now be two-to-three days after your initial order was placed (depending on the time of day you placed your order).

After your package has been collected from us the normal delivery service will take between three-to-five working days. So, as you can see, we don't even try to compete on speed of delivery - that's not what we're about. Something else best mentioned here is that your order is still subject to the standard credit clearance checks imposed by our on-line bank

Because each print is made to order, our website doesn't offer a Next Day Delivery service. We can deliver to you more quickly than stated above, but you'll need to call us to arrange this and, I'm sure you won't be surprised to hear, it will cost you more. So if you need a quote for a faster delivery service please call us on: 01464 821 351 and we'll be happy to arrange this.
